The bad taste cavern

Just kidding, that's not only this page but it's actually, the whole website! Not that there's anything wrong with it. But now let's actually get into it, shall we.

My favorite genres are vaporwave, hyperpop and prog-rock.

For a really long time, arguably even to this day, vaporwave has been the only thing I would listen to. There are so many artists I would find either by recommendations or by browsing bandcamp or reddit. I'm not as familiar as I used to be with all the different sub-genres but I'm a fan of the classic style of earlier albums, hypnagogic and for a while even future funk. Fascinating are also the proto-vapor albums such as the classic Eccojams Vol. 1 of Chuck Person.

I wouldn't say I have a #1 favorite artist. The closest to that would probably be Sophie (RIP). It's really unfortunate that we lost her so early, but I'm sure her music will live on for a long time still.

There are other possible candidates of course. Like Kero Kero Bonito (band, not a single artist). I think their sound has evolved a lot over the years. You can listen to one of their first albums, like Bonito Generation and then their last, Civilisation II, and you will notice how their songs went from cutesy and light hearted to full-on eco-socialist house anthems and honestly, I love it for them.

I'm also a big fan of Dorian Electra. First of all, they are a total icon and no one can disagree on that one. Their music is great too! I think the way they talk about themes like gender and sexuality is very subversive and something that hasn't been done before by any artist. At least not how Dorian does it. The sheer energy of their music. How unapologetically camp the videos are, from the music with its weird midi instruments and and whip sound effects. Really one of the most interesting artists out there.

Some of my fav albums

I almost exclusively listen to full albums. I don't use playlist most of the time. When I use things like the discovery playlist on spotify I'll find a song that I like and then I'll go listen to the whole album.

So that's the reason why I'll mostly recommend albums to people, pointing out some of the best songs in there. I will do the same here.
